Animal Health Intuition®

I have worked as a life and health intuitive® for people for several years. As I've worked with a human client, sometimes they ask me to read for their animals. The work with animals (dogs, cats, horses, and one bird) has been fulfilling and helpful, since we spend a lot of time talking to them, but usually not as much time listening to them.

A reading/intuitive consultation with your animal is usually much shorter than the 45 minutes- to- an- hour that a human session takes. In the approximately 30 minutes we spend, the content can encompass physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual information as well as information about how the animal relates with their environment, including the people in his or her life. As with all consultations, they are conducted long-distance, over the phone, and I make a tape of our conversation to send to you when we are finished.

Here are two testimonials about my work with animals:

Shadow is an older Golden Retriever. He’d been having problems for many months. His owner called me and I immediately picked up on digestion, which was primary, and other symptoms, too. I recommended a shift in diet, and we talked about several other things (you can see her feedback below.) She checked with her vet, who agreed. Shadow went on the new diet and his poor digestion of many months was better in one week. I was amazed at the quickness of this turnaround. Please know that healing can take time, but in this case, it was very fast.

“Karen, I thought of you today. I took Shadow to the vet – they were amazed at how well is doing for 13! His coat is still beautiful and he is such a happy dog right now. I will always remember and thank you for saving him…and teaching me so much about an animal that our family loves so much. He is getting older, but I feel good about helping him through it without pain and suffering. I often tell people about how you helped turn things around. There is one very important thing I have to tell you. You helped with the food of course. But more importantly, we were so frustrated with his illness that we forgot to think of him as, well almost a person. That perspective really changed us all.”

This second story is an excerpt from my book, “Health Intuition” (foreword by Caroline Myss, PhD):

Dr. Rodan is a well-read, conservative veterinarian. She would never use intuition as a substitute for care. However, the more we work together, the more she sees the value of intuition. She jokes when I come in, “Got a 1-900 psychic case for you.”

My biggest success so far has been with Vanna, a Doberman pinscher, whose owner, Susan, works in Dr. Rodan’s office. At nine years of age, Vanna was in such dire straits that euthanasia was a possibility. She wasn’t able to eat, and she was described as being lethargic and unresponsive, instead of her former, keen self. As I did the reading, I came up with emotional factors at home as a piece of the puzzle, a time line of problems starting four years ago, and things in Vanna’s environment that she was unhappy about that were causing her emotional distress. I hesitated to take down this information, as I wasn’t’ sure if Susan would be open to it. Although Susan is a loving owner, it’s not easy to hear that your emotional support and home environment need adjusting. I suggested some things that Susan could do to change this stress at home. Additionally, Susan and Dr. Rodan were worried that Vanna might have a bleeding ulcer (there was blood in her stool), but I couldn’t find it intuitively. Instead I came up with other physical symptoms. Susan validated all but one intuitive impression as correct: She said there was no problem in Vana’s upper jaw above the left canine.

With nothing left to lose, and with Dr. Rodan, Susan tried my suggestions for easing Vanna’s emotional strain by shifting her home environment, supplement her diet with B vitamins and herbal remedies, and giving her massages. Additionally, she scheduled an upper-gastrointestinal “scope” to check for the presence of an ulcer (it found nothing, as did I). Within a few weeks, Susan noticed an improvement in Vanna’s emotional state. A few weeks later, Vanna was feeling so much better that Susan decided to get Vanna’s teeth cleaned. Although she was nine, and many dogs need their teeth cleaned by this time, Vanna did not have a lot of tartar and no telltale bad breath. Based on her age, and the accuracy of my other intuitive impressions, Susan decided to do the dental cleaning anyway. She encouraged Dr. Rodan, “Make sure you check those canines—Karen said she thought there was something in the upper jaw above one of them.” Dr. Rodan wiggled the left tooth. “Wiggle harder,” Susan said. The tooth broke off in Dr. Rodan’s hand, revealing a large abscess up into the upper jaw. Because of its size, Dr. Rodan felt the abscess must have been bothering Vanna for quite some time, yet there were no outward signs. She later said, “It’s not like they can tell you what’s wrong with them.” I smiled at her and said, “Sure they can. Want to take my class on intuitive development?” She just grinned.

Susan reported that after two weeks’ time, Vanna had regressed five years in attitude and physical health. She is back to her old, loving self with good health.
